The call was to let me know that the container missed the scheduled boat to Beijing and would it now only arrive in the 14th.Peter had arranged the shipping but the agent called me because he could not get hold of Peter. I tried to contact Peter and he called me back to say he was in a meeting and could I handle it. |

Final Shakedown Run 23rd July 2010 Delivery to Shipping Agents  Everyone has had to work to a schedule, but there is nothing like having your shipping date brought forward by a week. Our last call to the shipping agents was that we should be ready end July maybe even first week in August. The August date made us a bit nervous and we insisted on confirmation in writing that the car would get there in time. This was all in the first week of July, when we still had some overheating problems and other items to complete. |

Update July 2010
The first official outing, apart from our practice runs, was racing the Steam Train on the Cullinan Run, which is an annual event arranged by the Morris Minor Club. The train and cars leave Pretoria and “race” to the grounds at the Cullinan Diamond mine, actually the Studebakers idle in overdrive, while the Morris’s race.  For some interesting facts on the Cullinan Mine go to the end go this page. After this trip we decided it was time to sort out the fuel consumption. Lesson One: Step One - in the process to improve the fuel consumption. Take two identical carburetors strip them, compare all the best parts and reassemble that carburetor including some new parts that you machined because the old ones were not up to spec. |

Update March 2010
It has been frustrating waiting for the car to arrive in South Africa. Finally, it is here and we can now continue with the preparation and keep you up to date with our progress.  Friday 26th February 10h00, I got back to my desk and there were FIVE missed calls and there could only be one person who is that persistent. |

South Bend Indiana & Cedar Rapids Iowa - July 2009
We arrived at Rex on the 7th and immediately rolled up our sleeves to help make the final adjustments and put the new wheels on the Victoria. Our first shake down run was a 480km trip to Cedar Rapids for the 45th Studebaker International Meet and there could be no better place to start her journey than the Studebaker Museum in South Bend Indiana the home of Studebaker.
